GROPIUS

I made this postcard holder as a final assignment in Plastic workshop. We were supposed to create something during this course. It could be anything from developing already existing plastic packaging or something completely new and since our schools equipment is limited, it didn’t necessary have to be a package. I wanted to use laser cutter on something, so I decided to make myself a postcard holder with my logo on it.

I made prototypes from cardboard to get a better picture of the size. Then I drew the dieline on Illustrator, so I can cut and engrave the 3mm acrylic sheet with a laser cutting machine. Finally the plastic was heated with hot wire strip and then bent.

I was inspired by Bauhaus style furniture, hence the name, Gropius.
