nocturne:distorted – Visual poetry installation

How much can you distort words and letters before they become unrecognisable and therefore unreadable?

nocturne:distorted is a visual poetry installation of a 1903 poem “Nocturne” by Finnish poet Eino Leino. It explores the gray area of almost readable and unreadable space. Are letters just shapes, in the end? I designed Nocturne typeface for this purpose originally.

It was my contribution to Almost Readable Typography Exhibition which was part of The Lahti Poetry Marathon in 2018.
